Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investiate uncertainty in post operation brain tumor.

Methods: The design of this study was a descriptive study. A total of 75 patients participated voluntarily in this study. The structured questionnaires were used as survey tool. For the uncertainty, the Mishel"s Uncertainty in Illness Scale-Brain Tumor (MUIS-BT) was used. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, & ANOVA.

Results: Mean score of uncertainty was 107.73¡¾21.72 (possible range 33¡165), Uncertainty had a statistically significant differences according to Marital status(F=.84 p=.004), Perceived economic status(F=5.52, p=.006), Post operative period (F=3.19, p=.029), Perceived health status(F=19.35, p<.001), Decreased motor grade(F=6.09, p=.004), Decreased memory ability(F=6.63, p=.002).

Conclusion: In summary, these study showed that uncertainty was significantly associated with marital status, perceived economic status, post oprative period, perceived health status, decreased motor grade, decreased memory ability. There is a need to reduce the uncertainty of post-operative female brain tumor patients
